What a glorious cottage in a lovely place. I used to come to Flete Estate with my family 40-45 years ago. It is a joy to return and find everything exactly as I remember it – all so unspoilt, peaceful and so so beautiful. No wonder so many films & shows use this location.

A blissful week in this very special place!

Delicious food at the Sloop Inn at Bantham- great surf, perfect beach for sand castle making & coastal walks.

The best part was walking along the Erme estuary from the cottage to Coastguards beach.

We had a lovely time in this delightful cottage. We had many walks by the coast which were beautiful. There were many lovely beaches, my favourite was Mothecombe Beach.

The Estate is in a lovely setting with miles and miles of beautiful countryside. The cottage is beautifully decorated, the fire was so welcoming and cosy in the evenings.

Far too short, but packed in as much as possible in such a beautiful place… trip down memory lane for everyone.

Wonderful stay!

Flete Mill Cottage

A favourite with writers and fishermen, Flete Mill cottage is set in its own little terraced walled garden and overlooks the water meadows bordering the river Erme; perfect for sea trout and salmon fishing. Sharing the impressive entrance gate to Flete House from the road,  Flete Mill is tucked away along a leafy drive.  With a double and single room in the house and an en suite twin room in the garden cottage, it is ideal for two couples or a family with older children. Dog owners love the enclosed garden and miles of old Estate drives for peaceful walks.

This cottage is beautiful and has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. There was so much to see when walking along the track to the beach: heron,  swans, geese, deer, rabbits and countless birds… we can only describe this place as a little piece of heaven on earth. Can’t wait to visit again.

“So near yet so far from civilisation. Did walk to the sea and back spotting TV locations. Ate twice at the Oyster Shack… seriously good and definitely quite cool.

“Another wonderful stay at our favourite Flete cottage. Weather wet and windy but snuggling up in front of that wonderful fire is bliss. We’ll be back next year”

“After seeing Efford house on Sense and Sensibility & sneaking a walk along the path nearby, to actually come and stay on the Flete Estate is a dream come true. Warblers, fox, deer, rabbits and buzzards all around are an assault on the ears in the nicest possible way!” Pat & Nigel

“Lovely week away from it all. We enjoyed the peace, privacy and birdsong. Enjoyed seeing the kingfisher, often by the river. We walked down the track as far as Pamflete where we found a wonderfully secluded beach… Good pub fare with free range children and dog friendly at the Dartmoor Union, Holbeton… we’ll definitely be back. Sue and Tony G

There is a tarmac driveway and parking right outside the cottage with a stone path to the front door which has a wooden threshold step into the wood floor living room. There is also a rug under the sofa and chairs in the sitting room area. The dining room is just off this area and also has a wood floor with a single step up to it. The kitchen, utility room and downstairs bathroom have slate flagstone floors.

The first floor is accessible via 12 carpeted stairs and the upstairs bedrooms are also carpeted. The bathroom has a linoleum floor and there is a standard height bathtub with overhead shower.

The garden annex is on the other side of the enclosed terrace garden from the back door. There is a wooden threshold step as well as a single slate step down onto the outside patio area. There are four stone steps up to a small flagged path and a flight of eight stone steps to the upper patio and gravel entrance to the garden annex. A low wooden threshold leads into a carpeted bedroom and bathroom. There is a standard height bath-tub and overhead shower.
