Coastguards Beach
Situated on the South West Coastal Path, Coastguards beach is open every day of the year It is accessed via a narrow Devon country lane which some can find steep to walk back up after a day on the beach! The slipway at the bottom (with bollards) allows access for wheelchair users, horse riders, wind surfers, canoeists and surfers. Being a tidal Estuary, there is half a mile of firm sand at low tide and a small sandy beach at high tide. At low tide, visitors can walk the full length of the beach, exploring the secluded hidden coves, rock pools and take a refreshing dip in the shallow sparkling waters that run through the centre of the Erme, down to the sea. It is also possible to cross the Estuary at low tide in ankle deep water between the two slipways. For further details, see the information boards on either slipway.
Please note that for environmental and safety reasons, overnight camping and BBQs on the beaches is strictly prohibited.
