The Estate hosted our regular spring fixture of two very successful point-to points, with plenty of entries, and a huge crowd of spectators, which was helped by glorious sunshine. We were also fortunate with mainly fine weather for our Open Days at Mothecombe gardens, which raised £6797 for various charities.

The Field archers came from all over Britain with their families, to shoot at life size rubber animal targets which were scattered through an area of the woodlands. The bows varied from traditional wooden longbows to amazing weapons of made of carbon fibre, with a system of pulleys for extra power. The youngest boy and girl competitors were twelve years old, but some had already won at previous championships. The prize giving lasted an hour, with medals and trophies galore, and a wonderful genial atmosphere.

Endurance Life returned for their third year, attracting a big crowd of super-fit runners and an even bigger crowd of their non-running supporters.

We hosted the Holbeton Village Fete in Mothecombe Gardens again, with some new attractions such as a Pimms tent, and chicken -herding sheepdogs as well as the popular dog agility, woodlouse racing, falafel stall and cream teas in the historic kitchens in Mothecombe House.
