In the immediate area......

The nearest village is Holbeton. The village is  very pretty with thatched cottages and a large church, it is generally quiet and peaceful. We have a very friendly pub and, new to us, an excellent bistro. We also have a post office and stores from which you can order groceries and newspapers, telephone 01752 830246. Fresh fish (including lobster) can be ordered from our local fisherman Nick Oatway, telephone 01548 810249.

The nearest small town is Modbury which has really excellent shops including small supermarket, butcher, baker, delicatessen, greengrocer, ironmonger, antique shops and gift shops etc. Also a very good coffee shop.

If you should need a bigger supermarket there is a Tesco near Ivybridge (about twenty minutes drive away) which also offers a home delivery service, but shopping in Modbury is far more pleasurable.

The town produces an excellent guide every year, you will find a copy in your cottage with more available from the estate office and do call in at the Modbury Information Centre, the staff are always more than helpful.
